A pair of nerikomi plates by Fern Taylor that explore hope through symbols of nature, made entirely from reclaimed clay with stains and a transparent glaze. One plate features a forget-me-not, the small wildflower that often grows amongst weeds and in unexpected places. Its ability to flourish wherever it can reflects the quiet persistence and resilience of nature. The second plate features a dove, a universal symbol for peace and hope. The nerikomi technique layers coloured clays and cuts through to reveal the pattern, so each plate carries its motif right through the body of the piece.

Work from the collection is available to pre-order from 1 September. The exhibition runs in store from 8 to 13 September. After that, all work is ready to collect from the shop, or for dispatch, from 14 September.

Part of the Hope Collection, launching at Fodder Hampstead on 8th September 2026 in collaboration with I Have This Thing With Ceramics. 20% of all Hope Collection sales throughout September are donated to Hope Unlimited Charitable Trust (registered charity no. 1013880).

Fern Taylor is a ceramicist specialising in Nerikomi, a traditional Japanese technique that involves layering coloured clays to create intricate, patterned surfaces. Fern's practice is rooted in a celebration of colour, pattern, and composition—qualities that stem from her background in painting, which she studied at university before transitioning into ceramics. This shift from two-dimensional to three-dimensional making was initially driven by a desire to work more intuitively with material and form, using Nerikomi as a means to explore the intersection of pattern, repetition, and the unpredictability of process. Each piece is built slowly, allowing the organic patterns to take shape.
