Getting married? Moving into your first home together? Hitting a birthday that deserves a proper fuss? We think the big moments in life call for gifts that are a little more considered. For us that means pieces made by hand, chosen with intention, that'll still be on your shelf decades from now.
That's exactly what a Fodder gift list is.
We start with a conversation in the shop over a cup of tea, or on a call that fits around you. We'll get to know your taste, your home, the pieces you've always coveted but never quite justified. We can even let you in on new makers and ranges we have arriving, so
you get first dibs.
From there, we build you a personal online store - just for your list. You will get a link that you can then share with friends and family. They can browse, choose their gift, and even leave a personal message so you know exactly who to thank for which piece.
And if there is something bigger on your wish list, guest can contribute to a collective fund - more on that below.
Every item on your list is handmade by one of our UK makers. Nothing mass-produced. Nothing generic. Just beautiful things, made by real people, chosen by you.
Some gifts are worth pooling for.
If there's something you've always dreamed of - a complete dinner service in a glaze that's entirely yours, a large statement vase, an artwork for the hallway - we can set up a collective fund through your list page.
Guests contribute whatever they'd like, leaving a message with their gift. When the list closes, we work with you and one of our makers to commission the piece. Made to order, made for you, made to last.
There's nothing quite like it.
We love a wedding, but life has plenty of other moments worth celebrating properly - a new home, a significant birthday, a long-awaited retirement. If the people who love you want to mark it with something special, we can help.
Fill in our short form via the link below and we'll be in touch to book your consultation.
Have questions first? Drop us a line at hello[@]shopfodder.com or pop into the Hampstead shop and we can have a chat.
Not a penny. The consultation is completely free, and there's no charge to set up or run your list. Products are simply paid for by your guests, at the prices listed in the shop.
We can meet in the shop on Heath Street over a cup of tea, or arrange a video call at a time that suits you. We'll talk through your taste, your home, and the pieces you love - and we can give you a heads-up on new makers and ranges arriving soon, so you get first pick.
We then give you time to pick the pieces you want to see on your list and talk through other options like donations to a larger piece or collection.
Once we have the final page for your list up and running we will send this to you to review before setting it live. It's then up to you to disseminate the list link to your guests so they can choose at their leisure.
That's entirely up to you. We'll set your list to run for whatever period works best. Most people keep theirs open from the time they share it until a few weeks after their event. Just let us know when you're ready to close it - we will put the dates on the list to make it super clear for your guests.
Yes - just get in touch with us and we'll make any changes you need. Nothing is fixed once it goes live. Unless the items have already been purchased by your guests.
It depends on what's on your list - and that flexibility is part of what makes a Fodder list a little different. When we build it together, you can choose from pieces we already have in stock in the shop (which we ring-fence for you), pieces made to order by our makers - (not limited by our current stock numbers or styles), or a mix of both.
When your list closes, we work with each of our makers to fulfil everything that needs to be made. For made-to-order items, lead times are typically 8 to 12 weeks from the close of your list, though this can vary depending on the time of year, maker availability, and the scale of what's been chosen - a full dinner service or large collection will naturally take a little longer than a few individual pieces.
We'll always be honest about expected timings from the start, and keep you in the loop throughout. If you're working to a particular date, just mention it at your consultation and we'll plan accordingly.
Absolutely. Guests can purchase from anywhere in the world. Rather than shipping gifts directly to them, everything is either collected from the shop or delivered to you - which means no awkward parcels, no postage headaches, and everything arrives in one place.
Any contributions not used towards a commission are returned to you as Fodder store credit, which you can spend on anything in the shop - this will have a one year expiry date from the date of issue.
When your list closes, if guests have contributed to your collective fund, we work with you and one of our makers to design and commission something made specifically for you - a dinner service, a statement vase, a set of pieces in a glaze you've chosen.
Lead times vary depending on the maker and the piece, and we'll talk through timings honestly at the start. We only take on commissions we know we can deliver beautifully - but some things are worth waiting for.
Not at all. We have couples all over the UK, and the consultation works just as well over video call. Guests can purchase online from anywhere, and we can arrange delivery to you.
Absolutely. We love a wedding, but a Fodder list works just as well for a new home, a milestone birthday, or a retirement. If it's worth celebrating, it's worth doing properly.
