Objects in Relation

A Valentine’s Day Edit for Fodder

Objects in Relation celebrates the human touch in handmade wares, with meaning formed through material, process, form, and everyday routines.

Across jewellery, ceramics, fragrance, and textiles, the selected pieces share an attentiveness to making and use. Craft is not presented as decoration, but as a way of thinking. Each object is formed with an awareness of how it will be worn, held, paired, filled, or returned to over time.

Together, these works reflect Fodder’s interest in objects shaped by intention, skill, and material understanding. Objects in Relation is less about statement or occasion, and more about how crafted things sit within everyday life, forming quiet connections through use and care.

Meet our Guest Maker

Scarlett is a London-based jewellery designer whose practice bridges digital experimentation and traditional craft.

A graduate of The Glasgow School of Art, her work draws on chaos theory, geometry and movement, combining enamel, precious metals and 3D printing. Each piece is handcrafted in her studio at the Goldsmiths’ Centre, Hatton Garden.

Our first guest maker in the Fodder Focus 2026 series, Scarlett Cohen French creates jewellery that sits close to the body, interaction is immediate and personal. Her geometric forms draw inspiration from mathematical systems and chaos theory yet remain decisively handmade. Each piece retains subtle variation and evidence of construction. Activated through wear, the work responds to movement and touch, becoming part of the rhythm of daily life.

Fern Taylor | Swans

This sense of process and repetition continues in Fern Taylor’s swan mugs and vases. Using the Nerikomi technique, colour and pattern are integral to the structure of the clay rather than applied to the surface. The repeating swan motif, traditionally associated with love and loyalty, reveals itself gradually through use as the object turns in the hand of the user.

Homework Store | Eau de Parfum & Home Fragrance

Homework Store’s unisex fragrances extend the idea of connection into the sensory. Informed by Traditional Chinese Medicine, scent is approached through balance between notes, body, and environment. Fragrance becomes something experienced through interaction, subtle and responsive to context.

Amelia Christoffers’ Bow Vases introduce an ethereal softness through controlled making. The bow is reduced to a considered sculptural element that brings tension and balance to the form. These vessels are shaped by their purpose, designed to hold and support while remaining complete in themselves.

Anna Jones Ceramics | Dreamlands Collection

Anna Jones’ Dreamlands Collection offers a balance of function and quiet narrative. Coloured porcelains, intentional glaze application and careful proportion work together to create objects that hold space without asking for attention, settling naturally into everyday environments.

Pairs Socks | Cosy Feet, Cosy Heart

The imbued practicality of Pairs socks offers comfort in daily wear while the richness of the textiles used in their making elevates them into objects of desire. Designed to be worn together, they treat pairing as a practical system rather than a symbol. Difference is built in, making them adaptable to ongoing, everyday use.
