Slab-built stoneware inspired by Matisse's cut-outs, the ones he made late in life from his bed and wheelchair, still vibrant, still full of energy. For Studio ERS, art is hope: it has always existed, and always will. The Matisse Sundial sits on an oak base finished in hemp seed oil, hand-carved by Jim Patrick of Wood Carving London. The smaller Fronds are made to be picked up and moved around, a reminder to engage with art as often as you can.

Pieces:

Matisse Sundial £325 | 34cm (h) x 27cm (w) approx. including wooden base

Honey Frond £95 | 22cm x 14cm approx.

Noriko Frond 1 £95 | 25cm x 16cm approx.

Noriko Frond 2 £95 | 23cm x 19cm approx.

Work from the collection is available to pre-order from 1 September. The exhibition runs in store from 8 to 13 September. After that, all work is ready to collect from the shop, or for dispatch, from 14 September.

Bio

Emily Rose Sinclair, aka Studio ERS, is a self-taught potter based in Peckham. Emily recently left a career in project management to become a full-time potter, after several years of developing her signature ceramics style alongside her full-time job. Emily’s studied Fine Art at Newcastle University, which gave her the time to experiment with different materials, although never clay. She now works with a mixture of hand built and wheel thrown techniques in her practice. Each piece born from a love for food and flowers, her collection includes a range of functional tableware and pieces for the home including vases, plates, platters, pasta bowls and snack dishes. Emily begins with an initial doodle and then works to bring an idea to life in the studio.
